Blog 1.2

Hi Bloggers!  Welcome back!  I've made progress on the habits and have also added some more.

This week, my goal was to add cleaning something every week and adding to my workout at night.  I ended up increasing my goal for push ups to 150 every night and adding 100 sit ups as well.  I've been successful in completing my workout every night.  I started motivating myself by starting off my workout with the same song, Ultralight Beam by Kanye West. Usually I'm lying in bed before and when I hear that song, it's a lot easier to get up and get through the push ups and sit ups.  I was able to clean last Saturday before our homecoming dance.  It only took about an hour, and once I started it was really easy to finish.

I also tried waking up to the same song every morning.  Don't Stop Me Now by Queen was the one I decided to use because it's upbeat and usually makes me groove so maybe it would help me wake up.  So far I've had success.  I'm awake faster in the morning but I struggle to get out of bed.  One of my comments from my last blog suggested setting one alarm and telling myself I have to wake up to it.  That's worked as well.  I now have one alarm in the morning and wake up almost right away.

Even though I am not getting to class on time every morning, I am completing my daily workout with push ups and sit ups and making my bed.  I have found these two habits to be part of my routine now and there's not much question before or after I complete them.  It's now just something I do.  This shows promise for my habits.  I would like to have all my habits this way.

Thank you and check back in next week!

  1. I am really happy to see you are making progress with your habits and that you are adding new challenges into the mix. I feel these song selections are a great idea to help motivate and keep you going. I find in my own personal life that music can make a huge difference on my attitude and mentality. My advice to you for in this upcoming week would be to really focus on getting to class on time. I feel this is the next major step in your growth. This is a very unique choice for a Genius Hour and I really like it. Good luck in the coming weeks!
