Welcome back! What a mess!

Our highlight reel turned out great!... after hours of stress and troubleshooting!

Jack and I spent hours putting together the film on a computer program on my laptop.  It was a little laggy because my laptop sucks but we persisted.  When we tried to edit the video, it just wouldn't work.  It wouldn't load any of the clips to let us edit them.  This was unfortunate to say the least.  We attempted to try it on one of Jack's laptops so we downloaded the program but it wouldn't run because his laptop was not up to date or something.  So we tried one of the school computers and when we transferred our work from the USB drive to the computer, we were devastated to find out that none of it could be edited on the computer and must be edited on the computer we made it on.  So that sucked a lot.

To put this in perspective, between troubleshooting and thinking of trying new things and stuff not working, this took about 4 hours.  This felt like the least productive 4 hours and I personally felt defeated and I feel like Jack could agree.  Not to mention the hours we put into the program in the previous days.

Panic set in that we would not be able to finish this film so I called the film guru and mastermind, Mr. Tooke.  He set us up on Hudl, the website we use to store and view all our film, and we were able to create a highlight reel on that fairly quickly.  Me and Jack grinded it out Friday night for a few hours (although Jack did a huge part and props to him because his editing made the film so much better), and we were able to finish the film Friday and then make minor adjustments the next few days so that we were capable of presenting it Sunday.  It went great and the people loved it.

This is turning into a long blog but Jack and I faced a lot of problems and disappointment and were able to overcome that and still put out a piece of work that was pretty good.  I'm thankful to have a partner to split the workload in this project and we've been working together super well, even we were both super stressed.

This next week we need to brainstorm ideas of ways to edit and improve the film we have.  Shouldn't be too hard.  All we need is something to edit the film and make it cool.  Then the work is just editing.

  1. I got to watch the film and it looked awesome, especially with the little details that you guys put in it. It is awesome that you guys were still able to make it with all of your issues.
